There is something going on in the bag biz. Messenger bags are everywhere and most of all those little companies really work well and produce great bags. Messenger bags are mostly near perfect for what they are, but what about people who don’t like to carry things this way? A backpack helps, but there are a lot possibilities to develop a backpack for a urban rider. For me the MASH backpack is great, it offers a lot and there are many great ideas in this bag. But the lack of waterproofness is a huge contra for me. Maybe they will release a V2 sometime in the future…
Until then there is not much available in this section. Ortlieb Messenger Pro (or Velocity) is a great and quality bag, but its not really versatile and pretty inflexible. Some messenger bag companies offer backpacks aswell, never had the chance to test one of those monsters, but i’m not sure about them. Mostly these are just really really large bags, where you can put a dwarf or two in, but they don’t seem practical for someone who don’t want to carry just big and pretty much stuff.
Some might notice that i really like bags/backpacks and so i revisited the website of Mission Workshop from SF some days ago to check out what they have to offer. Continue reading ‘MISSION WORKSHOP Backpacks.’
Today i finally received my VAGX Ultimate Masterpiece Messenger Bag.
I was really curious about these bags for a while and the good people at Force Effect send one over to me. VAGX is a young company from Korea, with a nice range of products. There are similarities to SÄG from Japan, but with a closer look you can see some new features, sweet colorways and also a lot differences.
It’s great to see that Force Effect, which is also a pretty young and small company/store, is checking out some fresh brands and getting them over to our market. They are the first store to sell VAGX bags in germany and also in europe there are not really stores who carry those bags. Alex, one of the owners, told me that they are planning to widen their brand range in the next month and that they are focus on high quality brands (like Paul Components, Brev.M, Gilles Berthoud, FrederikPackers,…) not just the standard fixed gear stuff.
My first impression about the bag was pretty good, well made and quality fabrics.
Some good ideas in the bag design and some stuff i don’t like very much on first sight. But i will test it for some weeks while commuting, delivering or on the way to the grocery store and write a full review about this bag.
So stay tuned.
If you are interested in VAGX bags check out Force Effect and feel free to contact them directly or me.
PB Swiss Tools’ RainBow Series inbus set does not only add some color to your grey, oil smudged tool box, it is also top notch quality and pretty handy when it comes to selecting the right size in the right moment. There is one version with basic wrenches, a ball point version (photo) and one with a stand for the extravagant.
Hi folks.
Thought about posting a short review and comparision about those 3 bags.
Got several messenger bags before – mostly different Crumplers. All of those had a really high quality level, but for some reasons these were not really perfect and for my personal taste far away from well-designed. Mostly pretty basic and more for fashion use.
End of 2008 i decided to get a new messenger bag and found Bagaboo on the net. Sympathic small company based in eastern europe. Founded by ex messenger Tamas they offered what most bag makers offer, but also really good prices and a great varity in possible options for the bag…
