INSIDE LINE EQUIPMENT

Finding a suitable bag is really really hard. No matter if you are a Messenger, a Photographer or Traveller. Maybe you just to need something for all of these activities. Since i’m a photographer i’m always searching for the best bag to fit my needs. At the moment i’m using a LOWEPRO Pro Trekker. Which is awesome, but it is just great to carry all my gear around, use it and then get back home. There is not really room to fit a Macbook, groceries or maybe some Apparel. So when you are on the bike or do day trips, this bag is not really the first choice. Also Chrome released a kind of photobag the last weeks, but i don’t comment on this. So is there a chance to find a bag, which is able to carry gear for a day trip, also got space for parts of the camera equipment, is good to carry on and off bike? There are tons of possibilities and a endless list of companies who tried to built something for this. Most of those bags are boring and to be honest, I really like to have something unique and sometimes those small details are important. Big companies often lose focus on small details and with my individual needs.
To make it short, i discovered “INSIDE LINE EQUIPMENT” from San Francisco. Eric is making technical bags from the view of cyclists. It is not performance roadwear and of course there are no messenger bags in his catalog. But there are enough companies who serve these products. Eric founded “ILE” to produce some really hi-tech backpacks. He uses the industrial standard materials and from the pictures on his website, i would say he got a really new take on this photo bag topic and also seems to have a lot sewing skills. These bags look really well thought and well made.
Would really love to try out his Ultimate Photographers Bag on my next jobs and bike trips. It’s construction looks really simple, but seems to be well thought. The bottom compartment offers space for a camera + lenses + flash and the padding is removable. The side pocket allows to carry a tripod and the top compartment takes a Macbook and also some more stuff. It closes with a waterproof roll-top. The whole bag is waterproof, even the zippers are sealed. I bet there is much more to say about it, but i don’t want to speculate. So i just mention that he also builts normal backpacks, rack bags, accessories and i’ll bet he wil come up with more stuff in the future.

His products are really worth a look, so head over to his website, webshop and support this.
Also check this neat video he made for this Ultimate Photographer Bag.

TRASH Messenger Bags – Hip Pack.

Some month ago I wrote something about Trash Messenger Bags. While I talked to Andy, who is running this small business, he made one of his Hip Packs (the “Wastebasket 2″)for me. I got it in the mail, some days ago and i’m really impressed. Doing bags isn’t magic, but there are always small details that make each bag unique. So Trash Messenger Bags are experimenting with colors and also their Logo details are great. The quality is pretty solid. They only use the best materials, solid stitching and also give a lifetime warranty. Also you can fit a lot stuff in the bag, wear it as a hip bag or over your shoulder. It also carries your u-lock and so you are good to go in every situation, where no large messenger bags or backpacks are needed. Check out the pictures to get a idea and also check out Trash Messenger Bags and get yourself a unique bag.

KEIRIN cycle culture café Berlin

Speaking of Berlin… i was visiting the famous Keirin Cycle Culture Café some weeks ago.
Sadly the weather was pretty bad and i don’t really had much time, but this store is awesome. Some really nice guys from different regions of the world are working there. Pretty international flavour. We talked a bit and I had a very good coffee.
There are countless memorabilia on the walls, so it’s not only a shop with a very nice variete of bicycle goods, it’s also kind of a museum. It’s really worth a visit…

Review: GoPro Hero HD.

Beste Vorraussetzungen also.

Preview: Mission Workshop – The Vandal Backpack

Finally I received my Mission Workshop Backpack. Talked about these some month ago. It’s the large version called “The Vandal“. To make it short: It’s huge, maybe a bit too much for me, but I will try it. Snapped some quick shots, as a preview for you guys.
Good news for European people, Mission Workshop finally arrived in Europe. You now can get those pretty well-made goods in their EU onlineshop. There are also 5 stores selling those in Europe (Munich, Zurich, 2 x London & Amsterdam).

irRational “Black Pack” Werkzeugtasche

SWRVE handmade urban cycling apparel

SWRVE BirdHow can i introduce SWRVE in a appropriate way?
I think the title speaks for itself, but it takes some more words to describe this kind of passion:

“A late-night ride though a nearly deserted downtown. Casual rides to run errands.
Whizzing past rush-hour traffic. Fighting traffic as stress relief.

It is in this spirit that swrve was founded in the summer of 2005. We are passionate about
bikes but we don’t look so good in spandex.

Swrve makes stylish urban cycling apparel. Our design concept has always been clean and simple
lines. Form follows function, a dash of elegance and a dash of street.

We love riding in the city.”
- the founders of SWRVE

SWRVE handmade bicycle gear.

Today i got my order from the SWRVE base in the UK. Only took around 3 days to arrive. I’m amazed by such great workmanship and the passion SWRVE puts in every piece. Everything is well designed and with so much intelligent details.
I ordered a cotton trouser, a short with DWR, merino baselayer and a hiding hoodie.
All handmade in the US, with the best materials and also awareness for fair trade and fair working conditions.
And the best thing: the prices are reasonable, too.

SWRVE handmade bicycle gear.

Had the trouser, hoodie and baselayer on for some rides today and the performance was great. The weather wasn’t that good, about 13° and really windy, but the cloth kept me warm. Not bad.

Maybe check out swrve.co.uk when you are from Germany / EU
or swrvecycling.com when you are from the US and give them a try.
